Never gonna let you downnnnn.... we all know it. It's the smash hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" by pop sensation Rick Astley. The song, released in 1987, tells the tale of a man courting a just-out-of-reach significant other by explaining that he will never tell a lie, walk out, or run around. It's pretty much the greatest tale of both love lost and love found ever recorded. Ever. "Never Gonna Give You Up" is so amazing that, starting around 2007, a phenomenon known as "rickrolling" took over the internet. A rickroll is when you insert a hyperlink to a site relevant to whatever subject is at hand, but the link leads to the music video of Astley's song. The rickroll has been adopted and used by many different companies, websites, and users all over the world. More notably, during the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving day Parade, Rick Astley himself rickrolled the parade's audience by appearing in the middle of a different performance and serenading parade viewers in that silky smooth voice of his. He'll never give us up. Following the parade, Astley gave an interview discussing rickrolling and what he thinks about it. In response to the phenomenon, he stated that, "I think it's just one of those odd things where something gets picked up and people run with it. That's what's brilliant about the Internet."
